I am pleased to be included in the Marquis Who’s Who in recognition for accomplishments in the arts.

Since the 1960s I have had a diverse career as an artist/ photographer, curator of exhibitions, critic for a range of publications, and author of numerous exhibition catalogs and seven books since 2014.

The most recent were cultural histories: Counterculture in Boston, 1968 to 1980s, and Museum of Fine Arts Boston, 1870 to 2020: An Oral History.

Since 2006, with my wife Astrid Hiemer, we have published and edited the online Berkshire Fine Arts. Managing a staff of contributors the website covers the arts locally, nationally, and internationally.

In the past few years, legacy projects have included exhibitions as well as launching a website devoted to the books and another in progress that will make available a vast archive of images of musicians, thespians, artists, and cultural leaders.

Most notably in 1970 I coined the word Gonzo which I was the first to publish in a review of a Ten Years After a concert for the daily Boston Herald Traveler.

Two books are in progress. One entails contemporary art in Boston and the other about coming of age in Annisquam. The latter is planned as part of the 400th anniversary of the founding of Gloucester, Massachusetts. It is a sequel to Gloucester Poems; Nugents of Rockport.
